Description
Fall comes late to south central Texas and it was especially late at Lost Maples State Park west of San Antonio and Bandera. This was taken Tuesday when I indulged myself with a quick day trip to the park. The park is so named for the groves of maple trees that are concentrated in this small canyon of the Sabinal River. There is a mix of old growth, dead falls and new growth. The colors were pretty intense.
Specific Feedback
The original post is slightly cropped but there is still that odd ULC of green. Used AI fill on the second post. I think I prefer the altered version. Your thoughts appreciated.

I love the stark contrast between the rich vibrant fall foliage and the nearly devoid of color but rich in texture tree trunk and branches. Well seen and captured. I almost saw no difference between the two images until I read what you used the generative fill for. It did a good job.
That trunk has a lot of character, and the color is a beautiful backdrop. This is an excellent use of the diagonal, and because that ulc is in the diagonal theme I don’t struggle with it. I think the fill looks fine too, but either way is a winner to my eye.
I prefer the original with a slight ULC removal of the little bit of a larger branch at the very top. I think both are excellent, but the AI Fill version removes too many branches from the ULC.
Hi Bill,
I like the implied right to left motion in this scene as well as the vibrant autumn red color of the maple leaves. FWIW I am leaning toward your rework with the ULC filled in. I am enjoying all the details and textures in those larger limbs as they contrast nicely with the red BG of colorful leaves. Beautifully done.
Bill, the big diagonal tree trunk, with its broken stub is covered prefectly by your title. In comparing the two, I find the “fixed” version to be a “clean” story, while the original adds an additional bit of context with the green in the corner. I could be tempted to use the AI to fill the grey bit in that corner with some green…
