Rough Landing

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I indulged myself with a day trip to Lost Maples ST in West Texas Tuesday. Found this solitary leaf and thought the contrast of its color with the hard rock as well as the different textures would fit the challenge.

Bill, my first thought, because of the brightness of the rock, was that you’d had a cold spell and found this life on some ice. The leaf stands out well and the rock continues to have me thinking of ice, even in the large view…maybe related to our current cold spell.

Bill,

I can see two different types of contrast here. One is the contrast between color and no color. Next is texture vs no texture. There is even a contrast between a definite geometric shape in the leaf and no defined geometric shape in the stone. Nice capture.
