Ready for Launch

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Like a jet poised on a carrier deck, this Blue Dasher seemed ready to be catapulted into flight. I also noticed the ground crew taking shelter before the launch.

Specific Feedback

I generally avoid light BG like this but I liked the “halo” effect it produced.

Bill - Nice detail here, and he DOES look as if he is about to take off. The head and thorax seem a bit dark, and might benefit from dodging a bit. The areas below the thorax could use brightening to match the other light BG.
And the 8-legged photobomber on the lower right adds some humour!

The detailed hairs on this guy make the image for me, Bill.

Fantastic detail!!! And a great description! The halo effect works well here but I’d be tempted to play with pulling out a bit more detail in the darks.

Nice shot of this DF Bill. I like how the lighter BG shows off the hairs on the aircraft. Those eyes are amazing. It was a nice bonus to catch the flight crew lurking under the helipad.
