Description
Not recent, but seen in 2019 during a visit to Zion NP in May of 2019. Later that week had 3" of snow at Bryce Canyon NP, only 50 miles away.

Hi Jim, I am a fan of photographing flowers in various stages of decay. I think it makes the images so much more unique & interesting. I’m not sure if that’s what your intention was here? I also like the unopened bud lower right, contrasting its stage of life with the main flower moving to its end. I notice you used f/10, and wonder if a wider f stop would have softened the background to more focus attention on this story (if that’s what you were after!). -Connie
Thanks for your comments Connie. There actually were blooms in a little better shape but I was drawn to this one because I liked the interesting patterns on the decaying foliage. Yes, a wider aperture would have blurred the BG more but I tend to shoot around the middle of aperture setting to achieve best results from the lens.
Having lived in Colorado for many years I so enjoyed seeing the many varieties, Jim. But I’ve never seen a yellow/orange one. Such a treat.
