About This Image
In 2008 I was up on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain NP predawn hoping to get a sunrise with some clouds or, even better fog in the valleys below but alas it was a perfectly clear sky. My disappointment was soothed a bit though when I spotted the elusive Rochness Monster on the ridgeline. Fortunately for me he was looking away and didn’t spot me and the wind was blowing strongly enough that he didn’t hear my shutter. I was able to sneak away to live and shoot another day. >=))>

With today’s processing tools I could actually tease out some more detail in the shadows but I kind of like it as almost a pure silhouette. Your thoughts?
Bill, great shot! I agree with you, I like it as a silhouette. I really like the feel of the image. Thank goodness you were able to escape the wrath of the Rochness monster to shoot another day
I can feel the fear you must have had being so close to the elusive and deadly Rochness Monster, but good of you to finally capture on on film. We finally have proof of it’s existence. I had no idea it had two heads. Very cool.
It seems that your disappointment in the conditions were quickly forgotten when you found this incredible rock/log??? formation. I like it as a pure silhouette. I don’t think you need to tease more shadow or black detail out of it. Thanks for sharing this one.

Rochness Monster
Hi Bill, Love the Rochness Monster, I think you’ve started a new folklore!! The color grading from blue to orange is beautiful.

Hi Bill,
First and most importantly you were able to get the image and back away unseen by the Rockness Monster! This was definitely a nice consolation prize IMO. As to your question about the processing; it looks just fine to me and I can see some shadow detail while still retaining that air of mystery. I also like the color gradation from warm to cool; depending on your direction. The notch is the cherry on top for me as it affords a small glimpse of the BG ridgeline and sky. BTW; I loved your story as well!
