Rock Beach

This photo was taken in Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica.

I think I have a tendency to under-edit my landscape photos. Let me know your thoughts on colors and artistic style.

Taken with Nikon D3000. f/16, 1/2000 sec, 1600 ISO. exp bias +1. focal length 18mm

To be honest, I probably could have lowered the ISO but I took this a few years ago and didn’t really understand how ISO impacted a photo.

You have some very interesting clouds here that add some drama to the image. And I think the rocks do have some potential to be an interesting foreground.

Here are some suggestions for tweaks.

You have some major dust bunny / dirty sensor issues in the upper left corner that need cloning.

I think the higher luminosity of the bright rocks in the near foreground carry too much visual weight, due to their brightness. I might consider a panoramic crop that eliminates them, which would make the darker rocks the near foreground in a rework. With such strong horizontal elements like you have in this scene, it is a natural for a pano aspect ratio.

I could also see adding some mid-tone contrast here.

Here is a rework reflecting my comments
