Rooftop Ravens

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I heard, then saw this pair of ravens on a neighbor’s rooftop this morning. I’m no expert but this seemed to be a friendly, tender exchange. Kissing? I decided that I liked it as a B&W. Everything in the foreground was already B&W. My issue here was the light direction. I wish that both birds could’ve had eye glints. Oh well, one’s better than none, I guess.

Specific Feedback

Cropping? Does B&W work?

That rood makes an interesting perch for these birds, Dave. I think black and white was a good choice for this one.

Hi Dave, I like seeing the interaction you have captured and I think the cropping is fine. Black and white also works well. The texture of the roof adds interest to the image.
