The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Tried my hummingbird set up this week. This is the same bird in both images. The second image shows an injury he suffered. I am assuming it is most probably caused by another hummingbird. The fights I see at the feeder can be pretty intense.

OMG yes - they are crabby and hostile little birds. The injury makes me cringe a bit, but he seems to be able to fly and eat so will live to fight another day. It’s too cold and windy for me to be out with the ones here, so I’ll just sit and appreciate your shots. The bird is in a nice position in both - very graceful and striking against that far away background. Good angles to cat the namesake feathers. Even catchlights in the eyes. Super.

Nice job on these, Allen. I’ve heard of them getting carried away and actually killing another hummingbird in a fight. Interesting that they haven’t caught on to the infinite supply of nectar that feeders provide, though the males will also fight over territory.

I like your setup, Allen; the background looks quite natural. I like the compositions with a slight preference of the first one.

Very nice set-up! Trying to catch hummers in good positions is definitely chllallenge, but very rewarding when it works.
Nice positions, gorget colours, excellent plant, and a complimentary BG. You might consider offing that dark petal between the other petas - it draws my eye away from the beautiful flower and hummer.
Poor hummer got stabbed-lucky it wasn’t a bit lower over the tiny heart.
Lovely!

Solid compostion here, Allen. Though I do like forward-wing poses with hummers (makes them look more bada** and aerodynamic in my mind), I think I prefer the second image here because the added red in the gorget really ties it together with the flower.
