A cool image, Dan. To me the scene dominates the birds in this one, so I’d probably call it a landscape more than a birdscape. The low angle gave you such great reflections in the wet sand that the gulls tend to get lost in them and the dark sea stacks also pull the eye from the gulls. I do like it as a landscape with birds.
1/15 of a second? Yeah, I’d say the gulls were very cooperative. I’m fine with this in Avian as your intent was to photograph the gulls in their environment. Nice colors and patterns in the sand. I think the gulls add a lot to this image of Haystack Rock.
To me it’s a landscape but I think that’s a good thing! It’s uncanny how much that scene looks like the mirror opposite of glasshouse rocks in NSW
