Snowy Egret Display

Shot earlier in the week in Louisiana. Two days at this rookery resulted in gobs of images. And unfortunately with the rather foolish choice of a high burst rate, it probably has taken at least twice my time at the desktop than it did for all the field work, and I’m not even finished yet

It was slightly overcast and breezy with a tailwind at the time as I watched this one for a bit, taking several frames of this sequence. But this guy never seemed to get it right. To me it just didn’t look very conducive to romance. Then again, I’m not a bird… so what do I know?

Full height cropped to 4x3 aspect from left.

Love the bird shot! Too bad about that stick, though…

Love the details in the whites and the fluffed up plumage Bill, wish for a head turn towards the camera.

Hi burst rate is a blessing and a curse, that’s for sure. I find myself vacillating between using it and going to a slower burst rate. The tail wind may not have done much for this guy’s romantic ambitions, but it sure made for a neat plumage display. Superb detail and very nice framing.
