Description

At 8 AM, the Ibus is literally in a roadside drainage canal. The trees are blocking the sun and producing that blue lighting. I reduced the overall saturation by 40 % and used two brushes, one to soften and reduce the contrast in the upper background and the other to bring out the coloring in the Ibus’s beak. I left the photograph on the dark side to highlight the sadness I felt in the Ibus. Thank you for stopping by.

Hi Peter, this does have a somber mood with the relatively dark exposure. Details on the bird look good. I like the room for the virtual legs but the cut off reflection doesn’t seem ideal. Besides that the subject placement in the frame on the left looks good.

Good processing, Peter. You brought out some good detail and the bird does look rather pensive.

Thank you for the comments. Here is a repost with the bill cropped out of the frame.

Much better in my opinion.

Hi Peter. It looks like @Allen_Sparks beat me on the bill reflection. I don’t mind the bird being a bit dark, but where the darker belly intersects the water, the contrast feels a bit much to my eye, so I’d probably lighten the bird a bit. I don’t know if you can do it in DxO, but if you could intersect a selection of the bird with a linear gradient from the bottom and raise the luminosity, I think it would do the trick.

Thank you for the comments.

I tried a post with the Ibis brighter, but it would load???
