Hi Peter… The photography of the bird is super sharp, colors look fantastic as well as the reflection. But the sides of the image look like they were blurred via software making the sides very distracting. Was that work done in post-processing? I’d love to see the photograph without the blurred sides if possible.

Nice job, Peter. An excellent reflection image. I think the blurred sides that @stephen_rauch mentions are just out of focus reflections in the water.

Hi Stephen & Dennis
Stephen, Dennis is correct, the blurred sides you mentions are just out of focus reflections in the water. The only thing I cleaned up in this photograph, were some white spots in the water. (form the sun reflecting off the water). Thank you for the comments.
Peter

Great look at the yellowlegs, Peter. Excellent detail and reflection. All that blurred water makes for an interesting image. You might consider removing the small reflection of the head? (not really sure what that is) in the middle.

Peter, well done. This is a great image of a Yellowlegs…hard to tell if it’s a Lessor or Greater Yellowlegs.

I really like the reflection and the bird pose as if it’s leaning into the scene. Very nice catch.

I never even thought that would be the cause. Learned something today!

Thanks Peter and Dennis.

Hi Allen, David & Stephen
Thank you for the comments. The little white spot in the eye on the reflection is a sun catch in the Yellow-tail’s eye.
Peter

Looking at the photograph again with the feedback in the critique, now I see the composition much differently. The reflections of the colorful weeds behind the bird is from the island and the blurred sides I mention is the water from the sides. Did not see this for some reason. Is this a crop Peter? It may be interesting to see the colorful weeks in the little island but I suspect that they may distract from the bird since they are so colorful and are probably a subject themselves.

A lovely image Peter! The bird and the intriging reflection are very nice. There could be another version cropped to vertical, eliminating most of the blurred reflection. Just a passing thought. I think I would remove the red “thingy” in the reflection in front of the bird.
