Nothing astounding here, but a look at how I spent today - kayaking up the Somo river from the launch site at the top of Lake Mohawksin. This is one of the many amazing stretches on the river today. Nearly 80 degrees F and blue bird skies. As warm as it was though (and will be warmer still come Saturday), I noticed the absence of turtles and many songbirds that have left or begun preparing for winter. We (surprisingly) haven’t had a hard frost yet, but it won’t be long.

Yeah I know that polarizer wasn’t at full strength, but it was hard to see and well…do the underwater leaves bug you too much?
Lr for all processing including a crop with rotation, slight wb shift, mask on right side to even out the light and color values, calibration panel to increase blues and some texture and sharpening along with denoise.
Gorgeous, especially against the bluebird sky! The amount of water in the frame feels well balanced, with a lot of interest in the reflections and underwater detail, which works well for me. (I love clear water.) The mid-ground interest is a nice touch – no nits or suggestions. Keep 'em coming!
Kris: I like this as is but a simple crop makes this more impactful for me. By filling more of the frame with the fall colors the sky becomes more of a complement and less of a competition for my attention. For me the clear water is a plus and I like being able to see the leaves. I’m still jealous of your kayak experiences. Keep after it. >=))>
Ooohh – @Bill_Fach has a great point here! His crop keeps my eye moving down (up?) the river. I could even go a hair further on the crop so those darker branches toward the left weren’t heading out of the frame.

This turned out pretty darn well for being captured under cloudless skies. I think the yellows and reds of the autumn leaves adorning the trees compliment the bluebird sky rather nicely. I like being able to see the rocks under the water; that coupled with the reflections add some lovely elements to the scene. My only suggestion has been taken care of with @Bill_Fach’s crop. This looks like a great place to kayak. Very nicely done.

Cropping does simplify the shot and make it more about the color than the fuller version so I’ve put my version on the top. The whole trunk of the left tree works better for me than cutting it off, but the top and bottom aren’t nearly as important. Thoughts on the new one? Pretty much all the leaves are down now as we’ve had a lot of wind in the last 2 days.
I missed seeing that Bill’s crop removed some of the tree on the left and agree its base should stay in the scene. Too bad the leaves have been blown down. I hope some are still around in a few sheltered spots – maybe an intimate landscape or two?
