This should be bright enough and clear enough To keep the viewer focused on the subject.
David, the lighting on the subject does seem bright enough. You captured some nice details in the spider. The web looks 3D, which gives it the tunnel look. I like it as presented myself.
Hi David, Plenty of color here. Spiders are certainly one of if the most interesting if not most interesting of all insects to capture on film (I know it’s digital but somehow the word digital doesn’t bring home the point 
).
Anyway, as I said, very colorful, plenty of minute detail on the legs, but somehow detail appears lost in the body especially, and this sounds ludicrous, when viewing at higher magnification. Is it my device (Kindle 10 Fire HD 3rd Gen) or resolution of the image? Where is the focal point? The web is also very interestingly detailed and seems to glimmer as it appears to compete with the spider as the main subject. Still, very nice. Spiders seem to have an almost translucent quality even though being colorful at the same time. I have to admit, an almost phobic reaction to spiders like I do to bees. Probably due to my rural up bringing and having been bitten and stung so many times while playing in farm implement lots, barns, and produce fields.

David: Would be interested in your specs. Getting a web this size sharp edge to edge in the frame is no mean feat and from my vantage point the overall sharpness is spot on. I like the lighting as well and would have had no idea you shot this through a window if you hadn’t mentioned it. Nicely done. >=))>

I do a lot of photography out my patio door window, too. Not that it has anything to do with it but perhaps that’s why the body doesn’t appear to have as much detail as the web and the legs(btw I’m looking at on my PC now and it looks the same as it did on the Kindle tablet). I think double pane glass does something with the sharpness. I try to keep my patio door clean as possible but every rain wreaks havoc. It’s impossible to keep it clean.
David, it looks like you were using small aperture to achieve the star burst affect. Where was the light coming from?
I love the translucence of the spider. The composition is very good, and the details of the spider are very sharp. Maybe bring up the exposure (specifically, the darker parts) on the spider just a teeny tiny bit so those details can be seen better?
