Description
I finally retired from the Federal government and now have time to do more nature photography. Here’s a nice palm warbler in song. The back of the bird was in shadow and the head was illuminated very well. I removed some bright OOF sticks in the lower right and upper left.
Specific Feedback
I like the bright OOF light green leaf behind the head. What do you think. ThaMK YOU FOR LOOKING.

Congratulations on your retirement, Jim. But if you think you’re going got have a lot of free time, forget it! The only people who get that are the couch potatoes.
This is an interesting image optically. When I look at it from my typing position of about 18 inches from the screen, the warbler dominates the frame and I don’t find the two remaining out of focus sticks to be a distraction, but when I lean back to a more comfortable viewing distance of about 30 inches, those sticks really start to pull my eye.
A beautiful job on the warbler-tack sharp and with a very nice pose.

Jim, a beautiful littlle bird - tack-sharp, sweet signing pose and exceptional colour saturation. The BG works well.
That little bip of stick in the URQ distracts me a bit.
Welcome to retirement! I think you’ll find you are busier than ever, as you try to squeeze in all the things you now supposedly have time for! But enjoy having more control over your life!!
Hi Jim
You will not have to worry about all your newly found spare time if you have grandkids. I like the framing and the out of focus green leaf is a plus.
Peter
Gorgeous capture in a lovely setting! It all looks perfect to me – I wouldn’t change a thing!
Congratulations! I’m sure you’ll never say “I wish I was in the office” while out shooting! Love the sweet look of this warbler and its sharpness. Perch is clean and subtle. Nice work!
Congrats on joining us retirees. This is a terrific image, sir. Well done.
Thank you @Dennis_Plank , @David_Bostock , @Sandy_Richards-Brown , @Diane_Miller , @christinedorresteinphotography , and @Peter_Morrissey for your critiques. I have been very busy with catching up to things and have not been bored yet with retirement…Jim
