Description

This is just an impression from a hike in Donau Auen NP, a riparian forest along the river Danube in Lower Austria. The emerging foliage of the white poplars make for a characteristic pattern in spring.

Peter, I like the mass of small detail. It becomes a pattern in effect., and an interesting one. F/16 was a good choice and there’s a lot of depth of field. The focal length is just right, in my view. The color is good. There’s a greenish-yellow cast, which isn’t surprising. You might consider reducing the color cast a little but it’s fine as is. My only real qualm is that most of the limbs and branches are leaning to the right.

I have always enjoyed these Edward Weston style wallpaper images where your eye fails to rest on any particular point and wanders pleasingly and aimlessly around the detail. Love the near disappearance of the grey trunks behind the Spring foliage.

Hi Peter,
Lots to enjoy in this woodland scene with the white poplars and the delicate spring greens of the leaves. Like @Ian_Cameron, I too like the fact that the eye can wander around the frame while savoring all of the details and textures within. This would make a wonderful puzzle. Very nicely done.
