Description
Bee cleaning its proboscis while dotted with pollen.
Specific Feedback
Does my image look natural or over-processed? I often feel that I go overboard with my edits and have a harder time knowing when my images should be finished. (Especially when editing macro insect shots)

Hi Christopher. I don’t recall seeing one of your posts before, so welcome to NPN. This is very cool. An excellent close-up view of this behavior. I don’t find the image overprocessed: exposure, detail and saturation all look fine to me. If you cropped this, I would like to have a little more room at the top as the bee feels cramped up there.
Chris, this is a really nice look at this pollen-covered bee.
The face and proboscis are sharp, where it counts. I agree that a bit more space on top would improve this even further.
I hope to see more of your images!
Good job getting the bumblebee’s head in sharp focus. Pollen grains show pollination in action. A little more space on top will strengthen the comp…Jim
Chris, you did a great job capturing nice sharp details of the bee where it needs to be, eyes and head. I agree with others about more room at the top, but not a deal breaker if you don’t have it.
I agree about the space at the top. I think a slightly wider aperture might have got you fully sharp focus on the eyes as well as the proboscis, and I’d prefer that. It’s great to meet another macro photographer on the site - welcome!
When posting a revised version, rather than putting it in a comment, it will get more attention if you edit the original post and put it at the top with a label that it’s a revised version (and label the original as such). While you’re in the edit mode, you should add something like “and Repost or and Revision” to the title. You can do this bu clicking on the pencil icon in the toolbar at the bottom of your original post (above all the comments. That will put you in the edit mode. If you go to the top of the post and put the cursor there you can upload the revised image by clicking on the up arrow in the toolbar at the top of the edit screen.
