Stand Up Guys

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This is a close up of the stamens, anthers and pistil of the first of our big red day lilies to bloom this year. A wider and less dramatic presentation than Will Rabinovich’s excellent tighter shot but I wanted to show the entire center grouping. This is cropped from a 5 shot blend in order to get enough DOF for all the reproductive parts to be sharp.>=))>

Specific Feedback

This is a pretty spectacular flower and perhaps the showiest of our many day lilies which are just starting to bloom as the irises fade. More to come.

Bill, this really shows off the curving stamens and pistil well. There a clean elegance and the colors are eye catching. It’s a fun comparison to see the difference in vision between this view and @WillR 's view. My one thought is about how this would “feel” if the center of the flower was off center (a bit lower and left…).

Hi Bill,
Standup guys indeed! This is a beautiful portrait of your showy red day lily. I am loving the details as well as the bold warm colors in the large version. My only suggestion; and just my personal preference; would be a small crop from the bottom to remove that small triangle of green BG. Beautifully done and I am looking forward to some more.
