Image Description

When I’m not busy guiding a group in Africa, I go exploring. I explore new locations, talk to conservationists, or follow up on what has happened since I last visited a place. For example, I spent several days in Shompole, named after the mountain in the background, where I was able to admire a large number of animals from a photography hut, saw lions with very small cubs during a drive, and talked to the owners about their passion and work for nature and the Masai community where Shompole is located. It was very interesting and very beautiful. This little zebra tried to get to the water, but he couldn’t get in…

Hi Ingrid,

Your photos of African wildlife are very unique and always look forward to seeing more of them. This one is of no exception and provides a very interesting comp with perfect lighting and three striped subjects. It looks like the photo was taken on a very hazy morning and if you desire, a slight bump up in contrast might be worth a try. I do like this one as presented…Jim

Perfectly posed, great lighting and those eyes.

Beautiful image of what appears to be a family unit. I certainly agree with Jim’s comments, although I think more contrast would take away the softer mood created by the hazy day. I notice the ear on the left zebra is in a different position than the others. It appears zebras have an ability to move their ears in many directions (I assume for protection).

This is another beautiful wildlife image Ingrid. I love the way you framed the three zebra, and I love the reflections in the water. I kind of like the soft light in this one.

Gorgeous – lovely composition and image quality with a wonderful reflection! You do such gorgeous work, I’m sure everyone here would love to learn from your comments on others’ images. This is such a valuable and unique community for sharing and learning.

Ingrid, I love the soft lighting here, the reflections, and - of course - the critters. The bit of mountain behind adds a lot.
Another marvelous Africa image!

Absolutely lovely.

It is beautifully framed, simply love the arrangement within the frame !
I may selectively increase the contrast a touch in the reflections.
Cheers !

Hello all!
I’m so grateful for your replies and suggestions!
I am still in Africa at the moment and have been processing this image on my laptop. Once I get home, I’ll look at all your comments in detail on my photo processing screen and see what I take forward.
As far as commenting on other people’s photos is concerned, I do aim to give back more. But it’s been an incredibly busy year on all fronts. I’m inclined to think I’ll get more time from mid October onwards to invest more time on this forum!
Grt, Ingrid.

Hi, Ingrid - I’m looking forward to your comments. Your photography is exceptional, and I’m sure your comments and suggestions on other’s work will be invaluable.
