Description
I actually took this shot in December. I was going through the file, and almost deleted the small thumbprint b/c all I saw was dark, and I figured it was a mistake. But, for some reason, I clicked on it and said, “oh, my”. Made a few little tweeks, and that was it. The sun was just coming up and he flew right into a shaft of light. Pure luck.

I like this pose a lot with its dark BG. I would look at pulling in the RH crops some if it were mine.
Thank you Dave. I was torn on how to crop because I was always told to “give the bird room to fly” in the photo. Thanks for your feedback, I will give it a try.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Luck favors the prepared. The IQ looks excellent with a lovely BG. For me, the crop could come in on the right. I would want to exclude the trunk, or darken it. Wonderful capture!
Thanks for your feedback. I will work on it again!
This is really nice, Judi. The trunk Diane mentions doesn’t bother me much as it’s barely visible. Maybe if it were hanging on a wall it would end up getting annoying, but I don’t think it’s a serious issue. For those of us viewing this in the dark mode a thin border to distinguish the edge of the frame from the background of the screen might be nice, but again, it’s not a serious issue.
Very nice Judi, the bird pops just right to me against the dark BG. Nice in flight pose, details, and exposure. Agree with cropping in from the right. Well done.
