Surfing the storm

I like the light in this one. Taken at a wonderful County Park on the Big Island of Hawaii, Puna District. This amazing spot no longer exists due to the recent volcanic activity. In fact most of the really nice beach parks were geologically altered by the lava flows. This was taken in January 2018 before the most recent eruptions. The slight red cast in the water is caused by red algae.

An interesting image, David. The water and surfer don’t look at all unusual until the sky clicks in. As you say, the light is very cool.

Very nicely dramatic, David, with the surfer and the breaking waves showing nicely against that very ominous sky.
