The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
The Mercer Arboretum is one of my favorite places to visit for its variety of water lilies and tropicals. This palm survived a killing frost which decimated most of the tropical plants.
Specific Feedback
I included the little window at the bottom instead of filling the frame with the fronds. I liked the contrast of the intersecting lines behind the main stalk. Your thoughts?

Wow, this is such a striking image, I really love it. I can see the attraction of the intersecting lines behind the stalk but for me I think I would darken them down a bit, I think they detract a little, the image has so much going on I don’t think they’re adding anything…… personally.
[edit] - just to be clear, I would keep the bit at the bottom, I would just look to darken the area behind the stalk a little.
This is simply lovely! The irregular fanned-out ridges are so nicely defined with varying color and reflections, and then there is that lovely yellow pattern in the center with its own complementary irregularity.
For me, a crop just above the gap would be striking. Or an alternative would be to fill the gap with the darkest green from the leaves. The piece crossing the gap is a conflicting element that pulls too much of my attention from a very special image.
Very compelling! The shades of green are sweet. I like the little gap, as it adds a bit of extra interest. I’d probably darken the area, though. The whites stand out a little too much, imho
Bill, I agree that the “window” around the stalk adds a nice touch of context. The muted greens with their subtle blue tones make for a quiet feeling in the viewing. The yellow tones around the base of the stem add nicely to the visual zoom effect.
