I was out walking around in our yard, and noticed a Black Swallowtail down in the flowers. But I soon realized the reason he didn’t seem to mind my presence was, he had other problems, like a (I think) Crab Spider make lunch out of him. Comments and critiques are welcome. Thank you for viewing.
Taken with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 mm macro L lens, with KX-800 twin flash and diffuser, handheld. Settings manual, f16, 1/180, ISO 200. Edited in LR and Topaz AI Clear. Cropped slightly, and added a bit of vignette.

Shirley, wonderful colors and composition. . . .but have to admit, this seems like a rather large meal for the little crab spider?? Great photo, nicely seen and captured.
Wow – wonderful composition and detail to show an aspect of nature we don’t always see. The setting is so nice, and the spider is even color-coordinated!
Shirley: What a find and a fine capture. My first irreverent thought was, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!” The web strands capturing the butterfly are a nice touch and testimony to the strength of these fine fibers. Most excellent. >=))>
Wow! That’s a big lunch. I’ve seen crab spiders with medium sized butterflies (like cabbage whites or sulphers) but never one this big. What a neat find and great photo.
