Swamp beast

I took the photo but was dismayed that this Nutria was in my local duck pond.
They have taken over the countryside and are eating up the local wildlife refuges.
A transplant from the South, a menace in the Pacific Northwest.

Dan, a fine image even though the subject is a bit of a foe to the PNW area. The open mouth gives a slight feel of maybe what this guy is all about. The BG does a perfect job of isolating the FG subjects too…:sunglasses:

Nice job, Dan. For a herbivore, you managed to make the Nutria look positively vicious. It would make a good “Wanted Dead!” Poster.

Nice photo, problematic species.
Your perspective and detail is just perfect, and the BG highlights both.
Excellent image!

These critters are another introduced species causing havoc. Brought to the east coast from South America in the late 1800’s for the fur trade, and into the PNW in the 1930’s. They wreck marches by feeding mostly on the young plants that provide habitat for ducks, other waterfowl, and the native muskrats.

Dennis’s idea is a very good one - Seriously, I’d urge you to submit this image to Fish and Wildlife in Oregon and WA, as well as Duck’s Unlimited and some of the other environmentally-related publications.
“Nutria - a non-native threat.”

Great techs and it looks quite aggressive.
