Description

Unintentional blur - didn’t change settings from a still flower, when this group of (?) sanderlings took off. Does this work?

Works for me. Just the right amount of motion. Looks like a new category: UCM. Are they Sanderlings? I wonder about the under body, reddish color. Sanderlings have white under bodies to my best recollection.

I really don’t remember…

I love this picture. The exposure time is perfect and the composition is very good (if it were mine, I’d clone out the white from the LLC.

Yes, Sandy, it works for me too. The motion and the colors are great. You might want to do some border patrol, but that’s really a personal choice. Interesting shot. Bird impressionism.

I love this, Sandy, and frankly wouldn’t change a thing. Accidental but spectacular.

Reminds me of the some of the avian photography I’ve seen from my friend @Mark_Muller. His feature in the Spring 2024 issue of Nature Vision Magazine included several images that used longer exposures to photograph birds in motion. I highly recommend checking out his work!

Dear @SandyR-B Sandy, it certainly works for me. I was drawn to it immediately because of the patterns and the beautiful reddish and bluish colors. The shutter speed seems right to me, because it captures movement as well as delicate details, e.g. in the wings. I wonder if it is possible to find more images within this image by cropping?

It definitely works! Just beautiful. The amount of blur vs. detail is wonderful.

Isn’t it fun when an accident like this happens? I think a sharp image of all the birds in flight, might have just been “nice”. This gives much more of the feeling and color of all of them in motion. You planning to try this again with more “intentional” movement, and not so much "unintentional? Wonder what happy accident might happen then? Very fun image.
