Ten Favorites of the year

Image Description

Ten favorites. Having just seen the wonderful webinar by Kai Horning, I decided to choose the ones that I like best, and a couple of abstracts came up. But I’m curious what appeals to you.

Feedback Request

Any feedback welcome. DOF? Composition? Subjects that are more, or less, interesting or compelling? Your picks among these?

Pertinent Technical Details

Each is different. For the macros, I mostly use this lens: Micro Nikkor 85mm ƒ3.5G. For others, and for much of what I do, this: 18.0-300.0 mm ƒ3.5-6.3.

Elizabeth: Really nice macro work especially with a fine variety of subjects. Good retrospective and looking forward to seeing more of your work in 2026. >=))>

I 100% agree with Bill! An amazing collection of images. I love them all, but the first wins favourite for its simplicity.

Thank you, Bill. I’m new here, just learning how to use the site and how to post, hence the terse descriptions. In future I will give more detail and ask for more specific feedback.

Thank you, Glenys.

A very nice collection of images, Elizabeth. I particularly like the Grapevine and the Stilt bug.

Thank you, Dennis!

Elizabeth, this is a fine collection of (mostly) macro photos. I especially like the coneflower group and the water splash. I too would encourage you to post single views to the appropriate gallery. That way you’ll get more extensive comments.

A great set of images with a great variation regarding topics. My favourite is “Leaf on water”.

Thank you, Mark. That’s helpful. I’m new here, just learning to navigate. How often do people typically post?

Thank you, Ola. That is my favorite as well. I wasn’t necessarily looking for that–it just appeared.

Elizabeth, people post with a variety of schedules, so that’s your choice. The only limit is one post per day, applied across all galleries and, of course, commenting on the photos posted by others is strongly encouraged. Expertise for commenting is not required (there’s a brief discussion under the About menu, FAQ/Guidelines, Photo Critique). (Later…silly me, here a link. FAQ / Guidelines)

Thank you, Mark, so helpful. I’ve started commenting, and I understand the importance of it.
