The Moose Paddle

This shot was taken several years ago in northern Colorado. That trip was the first time I had ever seen a moose. I have shots of moose with larger antlers and other classic moose shots but this remains one of my favorites from the trip. I like the movement, the splashing water and the vegetation hanging from his mouth.

Please tell me what you see that will make it even better.

Any pertinent technical details:

This crop is the full width of the original but 16x9 to emphasize the length and movement.

Spectacular… I am not sure if I have seen a swimming image of a Moose ever…

Thanks, Dan. I have a few from that trip. But although I’ve now been on many moose trips, I’ve not seen one swim like that again. In the water, yes, but not swimming.

Excellent, Terri. I like the aspects you mentioned and exposure and focus are perfect. The effort being exerted comes across very well.

Great action and wonderful shot !
I love the light and splashes too. The guy must be exerting very much as the water droplets / vapor coming out of nose-trills.
Won’t change a thing !

Thanks to all of you for your kind words.

Excellent comp. Water and splash are quite pleasing.
