The order images are posted on NPN

I posted 9 images on this weeks weekly challenge (1220: favorite images of 2020). I purposely ended the file name with _01.jpg through _09.jpg so it would be easy to identifiy which image was being discussed.

But when I uploaded them, NPN re-arranged them, so they were no longer in sequence. So now I can’t tell whether a response referencing image #3, for example, was based on the file name or the order in which they are displayed on the NPN website.

Is there some not-intuitively-obvious rule that I did not follow, to cause this confusion to happen?

One of the moderators will likely have a better answer, but I’m wondering whether there is a difference at the beginning of the file name? Even a space makes a difference. But I think the interface has a new field for each, so that should not matter,

FWIW, I always put a number for a series above the image, followed by a colon. I don’t always look at file names when commenting and also rarely change them before posting,

Curious to hear what others say.

Hi Franz, I fixed the order for you. I’m not too sure why they were out of order, I’ll have to do some testing to figure this out!

Marylynne;

Regrding the order of multiple images in a single post, I like your idea of sprinkling numbers somewhere in the series. [I’ve actually thought about taking it one step further by adding a small non-intrusive numberic “watermark” in the lower left/right corner of each image to make identifiying a specific image more robust/reliable.]

Cheers,
Franz
