The Streak

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Here’s the view, rotated slightly North to fill the frame with the flaming streak from my previous post. While there was a bit more to the left and I did take a two shot pano, I like this view better.

Specific Feedback

It’s an interesting look at mostly a single row of clouds and I do like the virga falling along the horizon. I don’t feel like there’s as much interest here as in my previous post. You’re welcome to differ :-).

Sensational sky, Mark. Personally, I would be tempted to remove the bottom most part of the image so that the bottom of the picture begins closer to or at the base of the mountains. My feeling is that this is a quasi abstract and is about the colour and the dynamism of the cloud. I don’t think the context indicated by the dark lowermost portion of the picture adds anything and even distracts a bit from the overall impact of the image. Nicely seen and captured.

I’m so glad you captured an isolated view of that cloud that was a smaller part of your last post. It’s so dramatic, almost like a movie special effect.

I agree, at least to remove the house (or maybe even a tad more. I also think there is room to add just a touch of defenition to the land without robbing from the sky.

Hi Mark,
That one flaming cloud streaking across the sky is spectacular and reminds me of a fireball falling to earth. Actually, I love the smaller less distinct one above it as well. While I quite liked your original I think the small tweaks from @John_Williams have elevated an already outstanding image another notch. This had to be amazing to witness first hand.
