Tiger Lily ICM

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

It’s been awhile since I have posted in the Flora Forum, but I can see the bar is still high with all of the wonderful images posted here. I really haven’t done much flora lately since Longwood Gardens no longer allows tripods in their conservatories. This will probably be my last year as a member unless that policy changes. Anyway, enough of my rant. This image is from some tiger lilies planted at my home. I wanted to try something different than just a straight portrait and this is what I came up with.

Specific Feedback

I think I could count the number of ICMs I have done on one hand, so I am curious how this looks to everyone?

Technical Details

Nikon Z 7, Nikon 24-200 @ 200 mm, f 11 @ 1/5 sec, ISO 100, Kase magnetic CPL, cable release & tripod

Ed: Great to have you posting here again. I hear you about tripod bans. I used to go to the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences butterfly pavilion a lot but after they banned tripods I found it much harder to come away with good images. Fortunately for me the Lowes Water Gardens near me is a small mom and pop operation and they welcome me and my gear. Of course my most consistent source of subjects is right outside my front door so unless Chrissy bans my tripod I’m good.

I like what you’ve done here with the frame filling color and just enough structure in the center to make it not totally abstract. I haven’t done much ICM myself, pretty much because I rarely think about it but I’m glad you brought it to mind. Keep 'em coming. >=))>

I think your result is spectacular, Ed. The motion is enough to add a sense of mystery without completely disguising the subject and the colors are wonderful.

I’m probably the wrong guy to be critiquing an ICM, but I find this beautiful Ed. The color is wonderful. I love those guys in the center, they look like angels bathing in the light.
