Transit Stop

This is definitely non-nature.

This was taken in January 2019, the last time I braved going to downtown Portland at night (or early morning), with expensive camera gear.

It had just stopped raining and I came across this transit stop with the wet cobblestones, tracks, and wonderful street lights.

I felt B&W was the right choice, and kept the darks pretty dark since it was well before dawn. Does it work?

Gorgeous capture, David, for such a troubled area. Love the lens flares and how the wet street reflects the lights. The black & white works well in reflecting a somber feel to the scene. I’ve been to downtown Portland many times, certainly not recently. Our son lives in Portland and like you has also been avoiding downtown. Hopefully the situation will improve this year. Very nicely done.

This is really good, David. The B&W treatment looks great and works really well with this scene. I might consider a crop down to eliminate the upper window but pretty minor.

Sad that the downtown is that bad you have to worry about it. That is a real shame.

Love this in B&W. The glistening of the streets and the atmosphere really make this photo. Don’t blame you for avoiding downtown PDX. I was down there a year ago with camera and was chased. Have not been since. Great photo!

Yes it works Excellent B&W And quite atmospheric Well composed too

I like this a lot… the lines going into the image are really nice. The curve of the MAX line… and then the overall moodiness with the wet cobblestones. I used to commute through downtown from the Reed College area and I loved to take pictures in early dawn after a rainstorm. Nothing I took matches this… great job.

Cheers
