Tree Silhouettes at Sunset, West Battle Lake

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Northern Minnesota was pure magic during a girls’ Memorial Day weekend getaway to a cabin on the lake. Every afternoon had beautiful sunsets and I was so inspired by the diversity of trees that grow in the area, electing to use them as a foreground element to the colorful sunset beyond.

Specific Feedback

I’m sure the colors will be a bit much for some folks but I really did desaturate; I liked the warm/cool color combo.

Technical Details

Canon R5 Mark II; 105mm; ISO 800 to freeze the motion in the water; f/16; 1/80 second.

The trees (and the reeds) make a fine foil for a lovely sunset, Beth. I do feel like the blues are too saturated. The textures in the water are also a good addition. This is very peaceful and inviting.
