No doubt about what’s going on there, Allen. Both are excellent. The in-flight confrontation should get them banned from the airways by the FAA. It is absolutely superb. I’ve been trying for that kind of image from the backyard birds for a long time with zero success.
Wow! Soooo cool!! This looks like a serious dispute. Wonderful color, sharpness and detail. I wonder if the darks in the heads could be brought up just a tad, for more detail around the eyes, but that’s way too trivial to even mention for images like these!
A double “wow” from me. A wonderful pair of images. Both images are so dynamic. The poses are really terrific and tell such a story. The birds are sharp from the heads to their tiny toes. Gorgeous colours well controlled. I love the underwing view!
Man, oh man! What a double stroke of luck getting these two captures of these notoriously hard to photograph birds. I just can’t decide on a favorite. Way to go. We have an active colony of them nearby and you’ve inspired me to go try my luck at some poses like this (in my dreams…)
Holy smokes what fantastic shots!
The wide open beaks tell the whole story, just amazing.
Excellent angles on the bottom photo, I love one bird facing the camera a little more. I also like the profiles in the first one, but it’s great variety!
I love that you can see their iridescence on their heads, too. Even when angry they’re still glittering.
So, so good!
Excellent images! Terrritorial/courtship disputes are great to watch, but nearly impossible to catch, especially with lightening-fast swallows.
Perfect angles with the open beaks.
Not the tiniest nit from me - superb!
