As stated before, when I visit a National Park I try very hard to not do icons.
This was made early one foggy morning just as the sun was rising. Tunnel View parking lot.
My question is this too minimal for a good image?

Well, this is definitely not something I would expect from the Tunnel View viewpoint! Good on you for trying something different and turning the camera the other way. 
That said, I do think that the image is too dark and actually the best part of the image is the interaction of the sun and the trees which unfortunately take up too little of the frame.
This works a bit better for me. I think as @Tom_Nevesely mentioned the best part is the light interplay w/ the trees… try to emphasize that a bit more.
