Turkey Tail

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got this early morning tom posing in the woods recently out in back. I think it’s an interesting study in feathers. He was just retracting his fanned tail as he was walking away.

Specific Feedback

I am curious if it works as a pose even though he’s angling away from me. Anything?

I think it is an interesting study in feathers, Dave. As such, I’d be tempted (if you have the pixels) to crop it way down so it’s just about the feathers, minimizing the rest of the bird and the background. The pose works for me, especially since it’s head is turned to give you the eye. For my taste the high contrast background and our of focus foreground make this a difficult image to look at.

A nice look at the feathers and coloration of the turkey. The pose works to show off all those feathers, especially since there is that head turn.

Hi Dave
The head turn make the shot work. Great feather coloring and detail.
