About This Image

Our clematis are vigorous bloomers early in the spring but as the weather warms they don’t do much. Spotted this lone bloom on the trellis up against the wall and thought it worth some effort. >=))>

The capture here was pretty straightforward. I was in a lazy mood (happens a lot!) so didn’t do a stack and just focused primarily on the center. The processing is where I did most of the work taming the light brick BG. This was a combination of masking and vignetting. Too much? Not worth the effort?

Bill, I really like the visual balance between the flower and the leaves below. The “taming” of the background is pretty amazing and works well at letting the flower stand out. I’ve tried to grow Clematis without success, so I’m especially attracted to this view.

Bill, you have an incredible plant diversity in your yard. The dark BG mutes out the non-botanical features of the BG while allowing the clematis to steal the show. It shows a clever use of under-exposing the BG to isolate the subject in a very busy scene. A darn good one, Indeed!..Jim
