Description
This is a bloom from the lily that grows in my shaded pond. It’s named Colorado and is one of the few that will tolerate the limited sunshine that my woodland pond gets.
Specific Feedback
I was attracted both to the bloom and to the fact that there’s a bud and other parts mostly hidden in the darkness.
Technical Details
R5, 180 mm macro, 1/5 s, f/8, iso 800, tripod and polarizer (by accident…)

This one is begging for a 3 or 4 shot stack. Ample sharpness throughout the DOF with some fall off of sharpness at the front and back of the flower. There’s two highlight spots to the left that caught my eye. Overall a very pleasing image and I’m glad that you are successful with this water lilly…Jim
This is sweet, Mark. I’m not sure I’d bother calling attention to the bud in the title since it’s so dim, but that doesn’t affect the image quality. The lighting is very nice and the dark background works beautifully.
Mark, another truly fine image from your various pond scenes. This colorful floral portraiture is a real beauty. Amazing amount of light cast upon it in comparison to the deep darker BG which makes for the perfect backdrop…
I like the softness you achieved in the flower - it suits it, especially against the dark BG. I also like the petal at the front resting on the water. A very interesting water-lily shot, Mark.
