We grow flowers, milkweed and a butterfly bush in our backyard to attract butterflies - the image of the black swallow tail with a ragged right wing was taken in September
of last year and it caught my attention of being able to persevere with some damage to it’s wing. Not quite very ragged, but maybe on the edge of being ragged.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

It’s ragged without losing its swallowtail shape, so the faded beauty retains her charm. The colours of the flower and lower BG also set it off nicely. I might crop some off the left.
A nice look at this old lady, Ian. She looks a little weathered but even as fragile as they are, they sure can withstand quite a bit it seems. Looks like she has a story to tell. I like @Mike_Friel 's suggestion.
A very nice capture of this butterfly, Ian! I think it fits the challenge theme perfectly. I agree with Mike that there is a fair amount of dead space on the left side that could be cropped to balance the composition better.
Thanks for all your comments; I cropped a little off the left to center the image, these comments and suggestion help me learn and grow – thanks again,
