Western Bluebird, Male

I finally shot a bird in a tree! (Not the first time, but perches near feeders are my usual cop-out.)

Is this a composite: No
Canon R5, 600mm f/4 + 2X, f/8, ISO 1600, 1/800 sec, sturdy tripod, cloudy day. Very small crop to eliminate edge distractions, shadows and highlights adjustments in LR, into PS for NR and retouching of a distracting branch. A few local areas brushed on for curves to burn or dodge.

Imagine! A bird in a tree! Extremely uncommon, but a pretty bird in a tree, and a nice shot with good details.

Beautiful capture, Diane. Love the detail in the bluebird and his expression. Congrats on the “bird in a tree!” Nicely done.

Hi Diane
If you keep sending us these great photographs using a 2x with a 600mm f4, I may just have start saving my pennies again. Very nice work.

Well done. The background is very cool. Superb detail. I like the pose.

Hi Diane, nice colors and the details look good. Nice backward looking head turn. Shooting angle seems rather steep. Still a fine image.

Enjoying the largest view with the nice color and excellent feather detail.
