What Once was Pure

Image(s)

Image Description

This is an image of a small section of a very large glacier in southeast Alaska. One can see the various levels of debris that has accumulated on the surface over time, with a small area that is relatively unstained. This more intimate view shows the detailed texture and pattern of the surface of the ice.

Reminds me of growing up in Michigan with a coal furnace, Ted. We had a family with a girl about my age that had moved from Pittsburgh and she said the snow was black after a couple of days.

I really like the arcs of different exposure in the glacier with corresponding levels of debris. A very well composed image.

Ted: Oh this is fine! Wonderful color palette and patterns. I can almost hear it cracking and groaning. Most excellent. >=))>

Ted, the arcs of color are a good addition. I’m also impressed with how rugged this surface is. The bits of glacial blue set off the rest of the frame well.

Ted: I lived and worked on various glaciers in past years, so this was an inviting image. Very nicely composed and rendered.
