Image Description
The slick bark of the white manzanita tree, prevalent in southern Oregon, is thought to have evolved to stymie insects trying to climb the trunks. Leaves are pale green which to someone must have looked “white”. The bark is red and darkens with age. Wood grain is very twisted and of low density.

nothing specific - purpose of photo is to illustrate the character of this bark. Helped that it was a wet morning, December 2024.
Pertinent Technical Details
Sony a7CR + Sony 2.5/40 G @ f/2.5, 1/50", ISO 100 w/CPL, processed in LrC. This 173g lens has very high resolution and almost zero CA across the image at all apertures. Though it lacks the creamiest bokeh of portrait lenses, the LrC background blur tool levels the playing field.
