Madrona Madness

Image(s)

Image Description

This was shot from the side of the highway in southwest Oregon. I only had one angle to take it from as it was over a drop off. There was a lot of distracting brush behind it, so I turned the background white to eliminate all distractions and emphasize the crazy bark. When I was done editing it, I decided to flip it vertically and liked the results.

Chris: Wonderful colors and patterns and I think if it were mine I would make the white BG go away and fill the frame with the bark. I do think the vertical orientation was a good choice. >=))>

Chris, the colors and shapes are amazing, wow! Well spotted and presented.

Fantastic pattern and colors, and a great choice to put the unpeeled portion in the center.

@Max_Waugh @Bill_Fach @Mark_Seaver Thank you for your great comments.

Madronas make wonderful bark imagery and you have done this justice. I think the stark white background gives it a very contemporary feeling and makes the chartreuse and rust colors pop. A lovely submission.

@madd_laura Thank you very much.

Really like this treatment of an irresistible subject. Used to shoot this subject in the Oakland Hills every time I saw it.

Thanks. Madronas fascinate me.
