The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I’ve been wondering how to process “in-flight” images so they look less static. One approach might be a composite image of multiple photographs of the same bug in flight. This image is my first attempt to put together a composite photograph.
This project started with a series of Widow Skimmer images I was about to delete. The problem was the animal was buried in gnarly backgrounds. So I started with the first frame in the series and cleaned up the background. Then I extracted two more images of the same bug from successive frames and dropped them into the first frame. This took longer than I expected, but I thought the result was kinda fun.

I like the result, Russell, The Skimmers are arranged quite nicely in the frame and you did a superb job of cleaning up the background and extracting the other two without losing any parts along the way. It looks quite seamless. Since you’re already getting into the realm of serious modification of the original here, you might give them a bit more room on the right as to my eye it feels a bit tight over there. Oh. I also like that you didn’t put them in a straight line. I’ve seen people do that with some composites and it doesn’t work very well to convey motion.
Russ: Ditto @Dennis_Plank on all counts. This is a spectacular image in every way from capture to processing and presentation. It almost looks like three separate dragons flying in formation. Superbly crafted shot. >=))>
Thanks to Dennis, Bill, and Shirley for your supportive comments. At your suggestion, I’ve opened up a little space on the right-hand side of the image.
Nicely crafted image! It’s not my thing to alter so much to an image, but the result looks nice. At least it gives me the chance to look at this beautiful dragon fly in detail, a species I’d never seen before.
