Wilson's Snipe

I’m mostly concerned about the background in this image. Is it too much? If so, do you have any suggestions for a good way to take it or particular elements that are offensive. Is that one willow stem in front of the bill an image killer?

Any pertinent technical details:

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 374 mm, hand held from car window, f/8, 1/400, iso 2000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC.

Very nice view of the snipe and it stands out well against the background. The two willow stems do seem to frame the bird, though the beak being cut off is unfortunate. I suppose this could be fixed with some judicious cloning of the beak over the stem.

Interesting, Allen. I hadn’t thought of that solution.

Thanks,

I like it. IMO neither the background or the stem in front of the beak are image killers. This is the habitat you find them in! Consider a slight levels adjustment to give the bird a little more pop?
