The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I went to this nearby pond and was happy to see this grass reflecting itself. Been wanting to find this since seeing Brett Weston’s photos of this sort. But was really disappointed in the colored tree reflections “ruining” the purity of the grass reflections, so this photo sat in my library for 6 years. Stumbled across it by accident, and wondered if 6 years of LR/PS skills would do it any good.
So now in the monochrome rendition, I like the triangle of the trees’ reflections; it seems to interact with the triangle of the grass. Not sure about the darkish weed on the left edge, but at this point, it seems to interact more than distract. Same for the bright sky reflections on the right.
Specific Feedback
Distractions - are they really working as interactions?
Technical Details
Camera settings / lens – Canon 5DIII EF100mm f2.8 f/11 1/30 (tripod??)
Processed in Lightroom - BW conversion, lots of healing out distractions .
Dick: The color version is a certain meh but the B&W saves the day by getting some meaningful separation of the grass from the BG. Glad you revisited this and congrats on a fine conversion.>=))>
I’m surprised you haven’t had more interaction on this one Dick, because I think it’s strikingly good. Well done on the conversion too.
I don’t mind the highlights in the sky, rather I like the variation they bring. I could see lightening the evergreens so they are closer to the bare trees in tone, leaving the grass to pop out in its darkness, but regardless this works really well. Glad you went back and had another go.

Thanks for the comments. The photographs we see on NPN are personal emotional investments. Words matter … in your case they hearten.
Enjoy Life.
Oh nice. This one really works for me, and your edit is even better!
You’re welcome, and I think your comment is dead on. It took me a little while to learn that when I first started posting on npn. I now realize that we each have a deeply personal investment in the images that we share for review. It’s also the reason why it is so damaging to the community when people mostly post, and don’t comment much. Feedback matters.
The geometry in this image is so strong that I think it dominates the image. I see this mostly as lines rather than reeds and their shadows. Although I think that having a background of trees from the real world (as opposed to abstract) improves this image. The image straddles 2 worlds - real and abstract . And that makes it intriguing, because one jumps back and forth while looking at it. I think that was your purpose.
