Wood Duck Drake Portrait

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This drake came in for a close look. He was calling out to the hens in the area. We don’t get a ton of woodies in Tucson, but we do get a few here and there. The ones we do get are pretty cooperative.

Beautiful, Kurt. Excellent job on the whites and he gave you a great pose. The open beak is really a nice touch.

Wow. Great job capturing all of the colors without blowing anything out or blocking up any darks Kurt. I love the detail in this and the look from the duck is great. Nicely done.

Hi Kurt, terrific close up! Detail, colors, and exposure are spot on. Love the open beak. Complementary background. A stunning bird…Well done.

Fantastic! They are colorful little guys aren’t they? Great energy and purpose in his look. Whites look good, even the bit on the bill. Love those little ridges. I read somewhere that mergansers, not necessarily this species, are the only birds with teeth that we have. Great little hunters they are. Always diving. A catch to be proud of.

An excellent portrait. The details and colors really pop.
