Saw this fellow peeking up above a grassy knoll. Quick snap and got him with a decent head turn.

I toned down the background quite a bit. Still kinda busy…too busy?

I like this presentation with the bird half hidden, David. The Wood Duck is beautifully sharp and the out of focus foreground really works well. The only nit I’d have on this one is for the topography rather than the photography. I think it would be really cool if the background had sloped up so the out of focus grass filled the whole frame.

Hi David, nice sharp look at the wood duck with a nice head turn. Looks good as presented, though would agree with Dennis It would look cool in a sea of green.

@Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks thanks for the kind comments. Yes, I wish the grass had extended into the background. That would have been pretty cool.

Wood duck is very nice. Whites are a tad bright, but I see no reason to tweak them down. I am not sure about the brown BG, but it does not detract from the subject natter. Well done…Jim

Hi David
I love the Duck coming out go there green foreground. The detail on the Wood Duck is spot on. Nice work.

@Jim_Zablotny and @Peter_Morrissey thank you for the kind comments. Much appreciated.

Hi David, love seeing this duck so well presented. The colors on the head look great and I love seeing that red eye. The brown background is sufficiently blurred and unobtrusive for my taste. Well done.
