Description
I have a pal that has a pond and he’s installed some wood duck boxes that work to bring in the wood ducks. I like to go over there and try my luck shooting them. I never cease to be amazed at the stunning looks of the males. Here’s a recent shot I got. Alas, I was unable to get a lower angle.

A great job bringing out all the colors in this guy, Dave. The slight downward angle doesn’t bother me in this case, because if you were much lower you would have lost the reflection. I’m not positive, but it looks like your AF locked on to something other than the eye. From the catchlight, it almost looks like it might have locked onto the eye in the reflection, but I think that would have softened the bird more. A fine image of this colorful bird.
I just saw this species for the first time - unfortunately it was in flight at the break of dawn! This is a very colorful rendition with a decent reflection. Well taken.
Hi Dave, beautiful colors and nice reflection. These are such beauties. I agree with Dennis on the autofocus as the head seems rather soft. Still, a nice capture that really highlights the amazing colors.
Nice capture, Dave. The colors really pop and the water color works well with the duck.
