Wood Frogs: In amplexus and still calling

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Watching the Wood Frogs in my pond mostly calling, but there were a couple of mating efforts that I saw and a good collection of eggs. (At one point I counted 20 males and only 2 females!!) In this case even though the pair are in amplexus the male is still calling, which has me wondering…

Specific Feedback

I managed to catch this call near it’s peak pouch expansion, when there are can be small drops of water thrown off as he expands his pouches.

Technical Details

R5, 100-500 @ 451, 1/160 s, f/16, iso 800, tripod and possibly polarizer

Great image of thriving life here Mark. I love the colors of the frogs and the bottom of the water. They must really blend in. Nice job separating the frogs from the BG.

Mark: You do realize that this is supposed to be a G-rated site? Apart from the shenanigans this is a great capture with the frogs sharp and the spraying drops icing on the cake. Thanks for a great image and an interesting natural history lesson. >=))>

Very nice, Mark. You caught a great moment there. Detail looks excellent.

Mark, it looks like your frog population will continue and so more photos of frogs for us to enjoy. Perfect timing.

Wonderful capture, detail and colors! He sounds like a busy dude. Here’s hoping for the next generation!

Excellent find and capture! The rituals of spring…
He is probabably calling to arrange his next hook-up!
Well-done!
