Project Images

Project Description

Over the past year I’ve made frequent visits to the Wyre Forest which is the largest woodland nature reserve in England. It’s a diverse and interesting area and after a few initial visits I decided to work on a long term project documenting the area and the range of scenes it offers.

This free ebook is this first of what I hope will be a series that I hope to put out roughly yearly.

Self Critique

I’ve chosen a range of different types of images from the abstract to more straightforward, hoping to strike a balance that keeps this interesting. But…it’s difficult for me to judge how well that works, whether that balance is right and I wonder whether it will keep people engaged.

Creative Direction

While I do want to ‘document’ in a sense I also want to create something that is somewhat poetic, that does capture the environment but that also says something beyond that, which readers can interpret for themselves.

Specific Feedback

It’s so difficult to fill out this box!

The first thing I guess is very simply - does this work for you? What do you get from it?

As for the images themselves - do they feel cohesive, like they belong together despite their varying styles?

What about the short pieces of text - do they add or detract? Are they too short and a bit meaningless or did they slow you down and allow you to spend longer with the project?

Intent of the project

Gallery Exhibition

Additional Details: I’ve said exhibition but there isn’t a clear intent for this at the moment beyond simply sharing via my website. The feedback I get here might help me decide what - if anything - more to do with this.

Excellent work, Dom.

You’ve certainly done that. Particularly the last few images, the bottom ones.

I also like that you mixed color with b&w. I don’t think that diminishes the project in the least. The presentation is just as strong if not stronger.
